Traveling as a couple is a whole different ball game compared to solo trips or group tours. It’s a blend of shared excitement, occasional squabbles, and those unforgettable moments that only two people can truly appreciate. Over the years, I’ve learned that turning these experiences into a travel notebook, poems, and now blog is not just about recounting where you went, but about capturing the magic of traveling together. So, if you’re itching to start your own travel blog with your partner, or just want to spice up your storytelling, I’m here to share everything I’ve picked up along the way!
Why Couples Travel Stories Are So Captivating
There’s something incredibly relatable about couples traveling together. They’re not just about the places you visit but about the dynamic between two people exploring the world side by side and two different perspectives to travel that create a richer experience.
For example, Rick loves European towns, finding little bars, and pizza anywhere we go, while I'm all about barter locations, street food, and talking to locals. Our travels often bounce between these interests and locations. This dual perspective to travel makes the stories more engaging and authentic.
Plus, we find ourselves in more trouble and with more solutions than if we weren't traveling together. It makes for interesting memories for sure. Like the times we were trying to get back from Nepal (woah) or navigating the underground in Tokyo.

How to Make Your Travel Stories Stand Out
So, you want your blog to be more than just a travel diary? Here’s how to make your travel stories pop:
Be honest and real. Don’t shy away from sharing the bumps in the road. Did you get lost? Did one of you get sick? Did you trip out of your own shoe on the cobblestones in Portugal... multiple times?
Include practical tips. Readers love actionable advice. I'm still working on this part. I like to show my packing, the links of places we've gone, and an overall itinerary - but it will always be what we've actually done. I'm thinking if budgeting and other things are interesting, we might go further.
Keep it conversational. Write like you’re chatting with a friend.
Remember, while you might write to inspire others to explore... at the end of the day, this is really for your memories. Keep it to what is important to you.
Tips for Starting Your Own Travel Blog
Starting a travel blog might sound intimidating, but it’s easier than you think. Here’s a simple roadmap to get you going:
Choose your blog’s focus. Will you highlight budget travel, luxury escapes, cultural experiences, or a mix of it all?
Pick a blog name. Something memorable and reflective of your style.
Set up your website. We use Wix but you can use WordPress or Squarespace too. Don’t stress about perfection. Just get started.
Create a content plan. Decide how often you’ll post and brainstorm topics. Mix destination guides, personal stories, and travel tips. This is so hard for me - I have lists and checklists that I've started.
Write in your own voice.
Use social media to share your stories.
